These five Saturdays of intensive voice and body work are designed as a series to prepare you for the reemergence of your voice/body presence back into public spaces and venues. How do we move from our isolation and distance in a digital world to impact the live spaces where we will once again meet. How will our bodies and voices begin to translate our experiences of the pandemic? How will we breathe more fully once again. These five Saturdays are an invitation to research this transition consciously. What is now necessary to be public in our changed landscape, our changing world.

In addition to the exceptional workshops, you will be invited to join us for optional special events and a morning sunrise ceremony to the sonics of MVI alumna and artist Lisa C. Ravensbergen each Saturday prior to the workshop included with the price of tuition.

Voice/Body/Mind Presence with Gerry Trentham and Denise Fujiwara

Saturday May 1st 12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT

Denise Fujiwara and Gerry Trentham will guide you towards ways of opening the mind, body and voice to states of curiosity and creativity. This integrated voice and movement practice will allow us to shed the debris and distractions to our pandemically challenged attention spans and notice how the great uncertainties of this time are also gates to creativity and freedom, and ways to arrive more deeply in the voice and body work.

Unearthing Voice with David Smukler and Matthew Rossoff

Saturday May 8th 12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT

David Smukler and Matthew Rossoff will lead you into an investigation where truth demands rebound and rebound is nourished by grounded breath. By unearthing the ground, you will enrich a sensory palette of “voice” to powerfully sound a personal revelation in a public forum.

Surprise Yourself! with Cindy Block and Lisa Beley

Saturday May 15th 12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT

Surprise yourself! Join Lisa Beley and Cindy Block in a rejuvenating investigation into new layers of vocal and physical presence. Engage your potential in resonance and range and explore the physical relationship to what you speak. This workshop invites you to enliven your sensation in what is familiar and, to follow your impulses into new depths.

Voice Becomes Text with Ausar Stewart and Gary Logan

Saturday May 22nd 12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT

Join Gary Logan and Ausar Stewart as they build on the principles of vocal and physical presence, guiding you through explorations that open body, breath, and expression. Sense impulse at a different level. Effective communication is both verbal and nonverbal. Ausar and Gary will offer ways in which we can balance and harmonize our body, breath, and language. These practices cultivate health and well-being, particularly in a Covid climate, and are skills that transcend and go beyond the realm of performance.

Arrivals Legacy Voice with Diane Roberts and Lopa Sircar

Saturday May 29th 12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT

Co-presented by the Arrivals Legacy Project. Join Diane Roberts and Lopa Sircar as you investigate an emergence from silence to voice. What if you could be the presence in this world that this tumultuous time has called you to? How can you let the past transform your future in these present and altering moments of unknowing? How do we sound the legacies we carry and those we must leave behind?
